Top Ten Tuesday #14 – Ten Bookish Things I Want to Quit

TTT

Over at the Broke and Bookish they have given us the topic of listing ten things relating to books that we have quit or want to quit.

It’s interesting but nothing really comes straight to mind when I think of this so it will be interesting to see what my answers are.

Genre

The first thing that comes to mind isn’t something I want to quit but something I want to change. I feel as if I am constantly reading YA books and recently I’ve been having the urge to branch out a little and read other genres.

Stopping Half-Way ThroughCinder

I have a bad habit of starting a book series and not finishing it, I reach a certain point in the series and then pick up a different book promising myself that I will go back and read it after I have finished reading. I hardly ever keep that promise.

One particular series I’m annoyed with myself over is the Lunar Chronicles. I loved the first book Cinder, not so much Scarlet but I still haven’t read Cress. I want to read it before Winter comes out but I doubt it will happen.

Collecting Manga

I collect manga, I don’t plan to stop but I have an annoying habit of buying just over ten of the books before I stop buying the books. It really annoys me because I do want to complete my collections. I have a lot of unfinished collections on my shelves and it needs to be remedied.

I only have two complete manga collections so far, those being: Dragonball Z and Cardcaptor Sakura.

Bookshelves

I am terrible at organising my bookshelves. I have a system but I’m just not happy with it at the moment. I want to change it up a bit but I know that if I do it differently it’ll bother me!

Okay. Well, I had finished this post and had it scheduled but then I was watching some Youtube and the idea came to mention something that has been bothering me lately and you won’t be surprised as to what this is.

Small SPOIlERS for CROWN OF MIDNIGHT by Sarah J. Maas

Love Triangles

Yes. Love Triangles. I’m reading the Throne of Glass books at the moment and I’m currently on Crown of Midnight. It is really bothering me that the main character switched from one love interest to another in the two books. There was some build up for the relationship but it just really annoys me that it was almost at the drop of a hat. Love Triangles in general just annoy me. I get that it is a good\easy plot device to use and it does create some interesting moments but in the end the result is almost always the same. The main character will either choose one of the men\women or they won’t choose either, leaving you wondering if there was a point to it at all!

Sorry. Rant over.

Well unfortunately those are the only ones I can think of right now. I was finding it difficult to come up with things to talk about this week, you can probably tell. I’m sorry this isn’t a very long or detailed list but at least it’s a post!

All that being said I’m curious to see what you have on your TTT so leave a link in the comments and I’ll head on over for a look 🙂

Until next time,

Top Ten Tuesday #12 – My Fall TBR

TTT

Now this is going to require me to think up a TBR for Fall. I never normally have a list of books I want to read and stick to it. I have a general idea of what books I will read but it’s always changing. Some of these books I have already read this month so I will mark them showing which I’ve read.

Well this list is a lot longer than ten books, I kind of turned this in to a post about my TBR instead of my Top Ten but I hope you enjoy it anyway.

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted and created by The Broke and Bookish, if you’re interested in joining in the meme or want to know what are next topic is then head on over there.

As always if you click on the book title or book cover it will take you to its Goodreads page.

(These books come out in October so I doubt I’ll actually read them in October)

NOVEMBER

I’m sorry that it isn’t a very detailed list, I hope you liked it anyway. Are any of these on your list? I’m sure my list is going to change drastically (except HP that will stay where it is).

Remember you’re welcome to leave a link to your TTT in the comments and,

Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag!

I’ve been eyeing this tag for a little while thinking about doing it but now that I have been tagged by Raven @ dreamyaddictions I thought I’d actually do it. Thank you for tagging me 🙂

As always if you click on the title of the book you’ll be taken to its Goodreads page where you’ll find its synopsis.

1. Best Book You’ve Read So Far This Year

The Martian by Andy Weir

The Martian

I fell in love with this book. I have only read one other Sci-Fi book other than this (The Host by Stephenie Meyer) and this blew it out of the water. This was so funny and intense, it was such a roller-coaster ride of a book.

My Review

2. Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2015

Shadow Study by Maria V. Snyder

Shadow Study

This can be debatable, it isn’t technically a sequel but a continuation of a series I love. This book was sprung on me, I didn’t expect a new instalment and when I found out that she was carrying on with the series I freaked out.

This was a good book but to be honest I don’t think it was her best book. I haven’t read very many sequels this year so I chose this.

3. New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To

new

The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness

I just downloaded the preview for this off of Amazon to see if I’ll like it and from what I have read it seems to have a very Neil Gaiman vibe to it. I love the sound of it.

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

I’ve been looking for this every time I go in to a book shop. I haven’t found it yet but as soon as my book buying ban is over I’ll probably end up buying this.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I’ve been interested in this for quite a while and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

4. Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half Of The Year

HP & Winter

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Illustrated Edition by J.K. Rowling and Illustrated by Jim Kay – 6th October 2015

This is so close I can almost taste it. The pictures I’ve seen look amazing and my fingers are tingling in anticipation of holding this.

Winter by Marissa Meyer – 12th November 2015

I’ve not read Cress yet so I have to read that before I can really feel excited about this one but nevertheless I am excited about a new book for the series.

5. Biggest Disappointment

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Fangirl

I had such high expectations for this book and they just weren’t met. There was so much hype surrounding this book and paired with the description of the book I thought I would love it. Turns out I liked it but it didn’t blow my mind.

6. Biggest Surprise

Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

Simon Vs

I adored this book. It was so cute and I’m already having the urge to re-read it and I read it about two months ago! Normally I don’t like contemporary books but this one was lovely.

My Review

7. Favorite New Author (Debut or New to You)

V.E. Schwab

Becky Albertalli

Andy Weir

I’m still a little on the fence regarding V.E. Schwab but I own Vicious (another of her books) and plan to read it soon. A lot of people regard it as her best book yet so I really hope I like it. I follow her on Twitter and I love reading about her writing progress and she has a great sense of humour from what I’ve seen.

8. Newest Fictional Crush

Kell (A Darker Shade of Magic)

Blue (Simon Vs.)

Levi (Fangirl)

Yeah I have more than one…

Kell is such a cool guy! *swoons* He can jump dimensions, he fights magic and bad guys and he has a cool jacket!

Blue is more of an “awwww”. Considering he’s gay I doubt he’d be interested anyway. I just want to hug him.

Levi is adorable. I could easily spend a long time just sitting there talking to him and reading to him. Levi you rock!

9. Newest Favourite Character

Percy Jackson

I didn’t expect Percy to be so funny. He has a similar sense of humour to me and I find it really easy to empathise with him. He gets himself in to some sticky situations and so far he always manages to come out relativity on top. (I haven’t finished the series yet).

10. Book That Made You Cry

I haven’t read a book this year that has made me cry. I have a few on my TBR Shelf that I know will make me cry so I’m hoping to get to them some time this year. The closest I came to crying was for the ending of The Martian.

11. Book That Made You Happy

How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell

HttyD

This was a short and cute read. There are some parts I was laughing out loud to and the ending was good. This mainly made me happy because I was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining it was.

My Review

12. Favourite Book to Film Adaptation You Saw This Year

Rurouni Kenshin (2012)

I’ve been meaning to watch this for such a long time and now that I have I was amazed at how good it was.

The costumes were on point, the atmosphere was really good, it was funny, intense and entertaining. I watched the second film not even last week and that was just as good as the first.

13. Favourite Review You’ve Written This Year

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

14. Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought So Far This Year (Or Received)

Vic

Assassins Apprentice by Robin Hobb

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Vicious by V.E. Schwab

15. What Books Do You Need To Read By The End of the Year?

I have so many!

Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

City of Glass by Cassandra Clare

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

Cress by Marissa Meyer

I’m probably forgetting some but these are the ones I can remember off the top of my head.
