Top Ten Tuesday #9 – Characters I Didn’t ‘Click’ With

TTTI actually managed to think of ten characters to put on here! When I started writing this I put in a small warning that I probably wouldn’t be able to think of ten but I did. Granted some of them are a little bit of a surprise to me too but it is always good to re-evaluate your reading and your reading tastes.

As always if you’re interested in TTT check out the Broke and Bookish for weekly topics.

Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)

I have a strange relationship with Hermione. Some times I love her but other times she just gets on my nerves. I love that she knows so much and you should never be embarrassed about how smart you are but there are instances where I just get tired of her spouting stuff at me\Harry.

FangirlCath (Fangirl)

A lot of people can relate to Cath and in a lot of ways I can too but there was something I just didn’t like about her. Maybe it was the book in general, I don’t think this book is as good as everyone makes it out to be. The only reason I have never reviewed this book is because I have quite a few bad things to say about it and it would probably drown out the good bits.

Clary Fray (Mortal Instruments)

I have been trying to re-read the Mortal Instruments series this year but I find myself stuck at City of Glass. I can’t get past the first few chapters where Clary is acting like a spoiled little girl. She makes some bad decisions and she can’t even see it. I might try reading it again soon because I do want to read them all before January. I really hope she matures as the books continue.

Anastasia Steele (Fifty Shades of Grey)

I don’t think I need to elaborate with this one…

Celaena Sardothien (Throne of Glass #1)

I’ve only read the first book but I have recently brought the next two books in the series. I haven’t given up on her yet.

She is a badass but I couldn’t find anything about her character that set her apart from any other YA fantasy female protagonist. My sister is constantly telling me that it gets better the further in the series you go, hence why I brought the next two books.

SAM_1542 (2)

Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles #2)

I found Scarlet really hard to read. I loved reading Cinder but this story felt more forced and it put me off the series a little. I own Cress and plan to get Winter when it comes out but Scarlet will always represent that hard to read story in my head.

I’m hoping she is better in Cress and Winter.

Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games)

I have read all three books. Only once but I have read them all. I loved Katniss in the first book and the first book in general but personally I think it could have been a standalone instead of a three book series. I didn’t like the second and third books and it put me off the series. If I ever read it again I will probably only read the first book.

Katniss as a character was fine but she seems a little emotionless to me. I get that she is trying to distance herself from what she has to do. Another character that makes some silly decisions.

Isabelle Lightwood (Mortal Instruments)256683

I have a theory that she intimidates me a little bit. She is such a bold character and completely unique. I like her but there is something about her that doesn’t agree with me. I think she is so completely different from me that I can’t get in to her head. Again I haven’t given up on her though.

Charlie Kelmeckis (Perks of Being a Wallflower)

I have never been able to finish this book and as a result I had to give up on it. I have always had trouble reading books that are told through letters or diary’s. I like to be able to see what is happening in the moment and not afterwards. I don’t really have anything against the character himself, I’ve just never been able to read about him.

Four (Divergent)Divergent

I don’t really know if he should be on the list or not, I don’t know what I feel about Four other than his real name is stupid (I was always pronouncing it wrong). Stupid reason for him to be on here but I wanted to mention the Divergent books at least once. I’ve only ever read the first book. I’ve had spoilers for the ending of the third book and it has put me off. Gah! Spoilers ruin everything!

*Cough* yeah… So there are a few on here that I know a lot of people love but hey ho! I hope you liked my list of characters, please leave a comment telling me if any of them were on your lists. Speaking of lists feel free to send me a link to yours if you’ve done one too.

Until next time,
