July Reading Wrap Up

I had quite a slow reading month to be honest. I’ve been too preoccupied with CampNaNoWriMo to really do much reading. What I did read though I enjoyed for the most part. I was a little disappointed with Very Good Lives, I would not have brought that for the £10 they want for it, thankfully I only spent £5 on it so it wasn’t too bad. I think I was expecting something more from it than what I got so I could only give it three stars.

I am quite proud of myself for finishing my first book on writing. If you are interested in fiction writing then I really recommend Bird by Bird. It educated me about a few things while making me laugh at the same time. It didn’t read like a textbook at all and the chapters were just the right length that I never got bored.

I managed to catch up with all of the manga that has been released for SAO now so you won’t be seeing that again anytime soon and I carried on reading Ouran High School Host Club, I have now completed my collection so I can binge read the rest whenever I want to.

Other than that it has been a very quiet month of writing. Below you can find the titles of the books I read this month and Goodreads links to them.

NaNoWriMo and November TBR

It’s November and you know what that means. It’s time again for National Novel Writing Month. This of course means that my reading expectations are low and this TBR is going to be very small. I want to dedicate a lot of time to writing this month so I won’t have much time to read.

If you’re participating send me your profile link on here and we can be buddies 🙂 For anyone interested here is the link to my page: Tori_Barnett

Well now shall we get to talking about books? Again as I said this is going to be a short list and mostly comprising of books related to writing.

WonderBook: The Illustrated Guide to Creating Imaginative Fiction by Jeff VandermeerWonderbook

I’ve actually already started this, I brought this some time last year and to be perfectly honest I haven’t read much of it. What I have read is really good though so I hope to read some more, I’m not planning on finishing this book but I at least want to read some more of it.

Writing Fiction by Linda Anderson and Derek Neale

writing fiction

This was is a book I was meant to read for my Creative Writing class in university last year but never got around to. Again I have started this but not finished it. This is a short book but it is very text heavy and I don’t want to overload myself so I again don’t know if I’ll actually read this all the way through.

Binge by Tyler Oakley

I’m currently reading this so I want to finish it this month. I can’t overload myself with writing this month so I do want to read some more light-hearted books as well as writing books.

Rurouni Kenshin 3-in-1 Volume 5 by Nobuhiro Watsuki

vol 5

Again I’m currently reading this and I want to actually finish it this month. This is a manga and a re-read so it shouldn’t take long but it will be a nice relaxing reprieve from all the writing.

There you have it. All of the books I might read this month. I’m not really planning on having a good reading month this month so some of my posts might be a little repetitive or I might just not post them if they’re the same as the week before. I might do a post about my NaNoWriMo progress instead.

I hope to see you on the NaNoWriMo website or on Twitter.

Good Luck!
