I Brought LOADS of Books\Manga! (April & May collective Haul)

Soo I may have been a little excessive in my book buying but when you read manga you get through them really fast! I’ve read most of these books already so I don’t feel too bad about it. My bank account disagrees with me though …

I’m not going to ramble on and on so here are the books I brought in the months of April and May ūüôā

I only brought 5 & 7 because I brought them for my sister. She is collecting them at the minute so I’ll read them eventually.

I want to continue to collect these to add to my JKR collection. I’ve read Cuckoo’s Calling and really enjoyed it so I’m hoping that I like this one too.

I still haven’t read the last two volumes of this yet because I know what is going to happen but I don’t want to go through it again. I will get past it eventually but the pain is still real.

Shaman King by Hiroyuki Takei 

Volumes 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 & 32

I finished the series by getting these and I am debating over doing a blog post talking about this series. I might try one out and if I like it I’ll post it. I have a lot of feelings about this series of books.

Looks like I was better than I thought last month. I thought I brought way more but I stand corrected. I really should start planning these ahead of time before writing them but it is a hard habit to break. I am really pleased with myself actually seeing as I have read almost all of these books. It feels like it at least. Now that I have completed my Shaman King collection I plan to finish another series I began collecting a long time ago. Thankfully I am only missing five books, three of which I have already purchased and are on their way to me.

There are a total of 24 books here! Wow I need to slow it down a pace. As I said now that I have finished my collection I doubt I will be buying as many books in such a small space of time but I can’t tell the future so we’ll have to wait and see.

I am bound to have missed something off but that is all I’m going to leave you with for now.

March Book Haul

Wow I need to control my book buying! I brought way too much manga this month jeez!

I think I’ll start this off by straying from the usual books and show you some new Pop Funk figures I brought for my shelves as a nice change from all the books and links.


I brought Sirius when I realised it was an option. Sirius is one of my favourite Harry Potter characters and I own the most memorabilia dedicated to him so buying this was a must.

I brought Vegeta on Tuesday (29th) when I went shopping. I saw him in the window and I couldn’t resist him, he’s so cute!

Okay. Enough about the figures and on to the actual books. I brought a total of fourteen books this month and I’m a little disgusted with myself but I don’t regret it. I’ve actually mostly read all of them too. (I just counted. I’ve read 9 of them.)

These aren’t in any particular order, I can’t be bothered to go look up what order I brought them in.

Animal Crossing: Wild World Game Guide

I made an impulsive buy a few weeks ago and got the game. I brought this because I remembered that there were patterns that I could make in the game that were in this book. Sad I know.

I feel as if I have talked about this countless times in the past month so I won’t go into the details here. These books each have two editions of the manga in them so technically these are six volumes.

FullMetal Alchemist 3-in-1 Volume 2 by Hiromu Arakawa 

Another impulse buy but when I saw it in Waterstones I couldn’t resist it. I read the first book in the series last year but didn’t continue reading. Something must have distracted me. I loved the anime though so I want to carry on reading the manga.

Bleach 3-in-1 Volume 1 by Tite Kubo


I’ve read this book before but I borrowed it off of a friend and now that I am watching the anime I wanted to re-read it and start collecting the books.

Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell 

I don’t actually know what this short story is about but I saw it in the shop and saw that it was only ¬£1 so I picked it up to read when I’m in a bit of a slump.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare 

I brought this just to add to my collection. I have been told that I can’t read this until I’ve finished reading the Infernal Devices so I need to wait until I’ve done that. It is such a pretty book though that I couldn’t resist it when I saw it…

SAM_1980 (2)Well these are all of the books that I brought in March. I’m sure my neighbours are getting sick of my parcels being delivered to them when I’m at work but what can you do? I am thinking of going on a book buying ban soon so hopefully this month my book haul won’t be as big.

So getting the manga out of the way first before getting on to the bigger books. I wanted to read this series because I knew that the anime finished in a completely different way from the manga so I needed to know what the difference was. I picked up the first four books and they’re basically the same but then I got to the fifth book and it is going in a completely different direction and so far I am loving it. The next three are currently on their way to me so I’m not going to include them in this haul but I’ll let you know my thoughts on them at some point.

Night Study was the book that I pre-ordered some months ago when it first became available to buy. I can’t wait to dive into this book and see how the story progresses. As for the other two books, I am going in to them mostly blind but An Ember in the Ashes has been on my wishlist for a while so when I went book shopping I decided to pick it up in a ‘buy one get one half price’ offer at Waterstones.

I finished reading Clockwork Angel earlier this month and was planning to dive right into Clockwork Prince but as I was reading it I could feel a reading slump coming and had to put it down and move on to something else.

I brought these two Harry Potter books to complete my collection with those covers. I think they look stunning and I’m so happy that that collection is now complete.

January Wrap-Up and Haul


So last month I wasn’t posting on here very much and for that I’m sorry. I lost the urge to write anything so I didn’t. I’m back here though and trying to get back into the groove of things.

All of that said I have had a good month reading wise, managing to read seven books. Most of these are manga and comics but I did read two full books this month and I am well into my third.

I only read from the fifth book this month because I have been slowly working my way through the series. If you go back and look at some of my other wrap-ups then you’ll see a few of these there too. I am waiting for the last book in the series to come in the post at the moment so I will soon finish re-reading the series. I have only read the online fan translation of this manga before this so it is nice to read an official translation.

At the start of last year I read the first two books in the Mortal Instruments series but I didn’t continue reading until December. I wanted to read all of the books before the TV series started but obviously that didn’t happen. I was a little annoyed with myself about that so I decided that I would read them all now. I’m so glad I decided to read them. I had only ever read up to City of Fallen Angels and I loved City of Lost Souls! I’m hoping that the last book will be just as good.

The search

Last year I read the first collection in this comic series (The Promise Parts 1, 2 & 3) and really liked them so when I had some Christmas money I decided to splurge on this beauty.

Book Haul

I went a little mad on the book buying this month and if I’m honest I can’t see that stopping next month. There are quite a few books I want to get to complete reading a series (Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices). I’m being good though and not buying them until I’ve actually read up to the books I’ve already got.

At work we have a charity bookcase where you put your unwanted books so that other people can come along and buy them for 50p that goes to charity. Well one day last week I was sitting at the checkout and I looked over and saw that someone had left a copy of The Host in hard cover. Now I love reading The Host and I have read it multiple times, so many times in fact that the book is darn near falling apart (I’ve got a paperback). I’ve been after a hard cover version of it for so long! So when I saw it on the shelf I immediately jumped off my counter and grabbed it for myself. I was chuffed ūüėČ

I had no idea that City of Heavenly Fire was so huge! I was going to wait for a while before reading this but once I saw it I knew that if I don’t read it now then the size of it will scare me off and I’ll never read it. Needless to say that is what I’m currently reading.

This is the last book in the Rurouni Kenshin manga series and I am eagerly anticipating it in the post sometime this week. Re-reading these books has reminded me why I loved it in the first place. It has been so long since I read the end of the series there are a few things that I have forgotten about and it is nice to go back and rediscover them years later.

Well there it is, all of the books I have read and brought in the month of January. I look forward to reading your posts on your reading this month. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish reading City of Heavenly Fire during February and move on to The Infernal Devices but we’ll see.

October Book Haul

It was such a good month for book releases and I was too weak to resist them. I’m a little ashamed of how many books I brought this month but I have been reading them. Plus I won’t have much time next month for reading as I am participating in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). Well enough small talk lets get to the good bit shall we?

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: Illustrated Edition by J.K. Rowling and Jim Kay

This is such a beautiful book and being the huge Potter nerd that I am I had to get this book as soon as I could. I actually pre-ordered this book. I think it was fitting that the first book I have ever pre-ordered was a Harry Potter book.

Twilight Re-imagined: Life and Death by Stephenie Meyer

I was in a state of disbelief when this was announced and I immediately went to my local book store looking for it but alas they didn’t have it. I went back the next day and low and behold they had it! I have read this and I actually really enjoyed it.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

I read this back when I first started this blog. You can find my review for it here. I only had a kindle copy however and as I prefer reading physical books I decided to pick this one up. I’ve been meaning to get it but every time I picked it up I convinced myself not to get it but this time I just said f**k it and brought it ūüėČ

The Amazing Book is Not On Fire by Dan Howell and Phil Lester

As two of my favourite youtubers I needed this book in my life. I have read it and I really liked it. It is the perfect book to pick up if you ever want a chuckle, if you’ve ever watched one of their videos then this book is basically one big youtube video.

Girl Online by Zoe Sugg

Another book I’ve been meaning to read for a long time. As the second book in the series came out this month I decided it was finally time to get this. I had to hunt for a hardback of this book though. I wanted it in hardback so it would match the new book that came out. It’s just typical that it is all over the place for months but then when you want it you can only find the paperback.

Girl Online: On Tour by Zoe Sugg

I quite liked the first book in the series and I am interested in seeing if Zoe’s writing has improved any in the last year. I will be interesting to see her develop as a writer. I’m also interested in where she is taking the characters in this book.

Binge by Tyler Oakley

Another book I pre-ordered this month. I actually managed to get a signed copy too! Tyler was the youtuber who got me in to watching youtube regularly so I felt it was almost necessary that I buy his book. I am currently reading this and again it is like watching a youtube video. If you like Tyler then I can already recommend that you pick this up.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

I didn’t really like Fangirl but I’ve heard rave reviews about this book and it got me unbearably curious. I picked this up and it will be read soon… hopefully.

Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma Volume 1 by Yuto Tsukudo

I watched the anime for this recently and loved it so I went out and picked up the first volume of the manga. I have already read this and loved it, although it does make me hungry…

As you can see I had a little bit of a binge on youtuber books this month. I’m a little behind on that bandwagon but no matter.

I went a little mad on books this month but I don’t really regret it, my bookshelves do though, I’m running out of places to put my books!

I think I did pretty well this month ūüôā I didn’t read all of the books I wanted to but I kind of knew I wasn’t going to be able to. I did finally read The Cuckoo’s Calling and started reading Throne of Glass. I read a new book this month (Nimona) I don’t think it has even touched my TBR shelf!

August 2015 Book Haul

I’m doing my book haul now so that I’m not tempted to buy more books this month, I’ve already brought more than I intended to. I’ll get right in to it.

The Titan’s Curse (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #3) by Rick Riordan

I brought this because I was given the first two books in the series for my birthday at the beginning of the month. I thought it would be nice to marathon the series. I have currently read up to the second book, Sea of Monsters, and I am just about to start reading this one now. I have to say I didn’t expect to like this series as much as I currently am. I’m so glad I decided to try these books again!

The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #4) by Rick Riordan

I think I answered why I brought this in my previous paragraph. I brought this at the same time as The Titan’s Curse.

The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #5) by Rick Riordan

I saw this in ASDA before I brought the other two above and picked it up for cheap. I think that is what convinced me to buy all of the books before reading them.

It’s really annoying me that they’re in the right order but backwards. I can’t be bothered to re-do the pictures though…

Frostbite (Vampire Academy #2) by Richelle Mead

I read this book last year but I didn’t have my own copy so I finally brought it and now I just either need to carry on reading the series or buy the rest of them so I can do a marathon read. I think I only have two more of the books to get so it isn’t an inconceivable thought.

Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) by Sarah J. Maas

I went shopping and picked both this book and the third book up from WHSmith. I had been looking for this¬†book while I was¬†in Cardiff but didn’t have any luck so I decided to buy it when I saw it.

I liked the first book but it didn’t blow me away so I think I need to try carrying on with the series before giving up on it.

Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3) by Sarah J. Maas

I can’t really put a synopsis for any of these book because they are all sequels or books further on in a series. I don’t want to risk spoilers for anyone myself included.
